Yesterday we went to an amazing park, with a huge maze, petting zoo, playground, not that far from the Belgian Border. Arne and Ilia had so much fun (and were only in bed around 9.30!) and so did Koen and I. The weather was absolute brilliant so that really made the day.

I've been asking myself: what's the point in living? My grandad almost became 90. Today he was cremated. He lived, took very good care of me as a kid (caravan travels to luxembourg, feeding me these funny 8-shaped, pudding filled pastries , baking the best chips in the whole world, doing our garden after my dad had left us, liking his alcoholic snaps once in a while) always being very cheery and happy when i saw him... but at the same time he wasn't happy. Cheated on my gran a couple of times but stayed with her and paid his debts... From that time onwards, they fought, all the time... It's a shame, they both could haven been so happy... But weren't...
I once promised him, as a little girl, that i would one day have a son to continue our familyname. And 25 years later, i do have a son (who he, for the few times that i visited during the past year, loved to bits...) and he has my name, so the family tree continues. I've never been proud of my last name, but today i was. Weirder things have happened...

Tomorrow, my wee boy is 18 months. Time really flies. I love him more than i ever loved anyone before (but he's incredible cute - that's what probably does the trick;)) but he can drive me absolutely bonkers at times as well... But in the end, we hug and make up, each and every time...
He's great, but i bet every mum says that about her kid. He's babbles nonstop, loves animals to bits (especially basil), can be incredibly naughty with the cutest of smiles, loves in the night garden (it's the only tv show he actually watches), loves biscuits, spaghetti and fruit, knows a few words already, calls everyone papa ;) enjoys his bath and bedtime. My life has never been more wonderful since he's in my life. Can't wait for the next years to come.

waw, time flies when you're having fun!!!

He spent as much time inside my belly as he spent outside it (nah, actually , that's not completely true but hey, figure of speech and all that jazz...) and he's more and more fantastic every single day. He's up basically all day now, taking a power nap now and again, and then he's loaded with energy and following me around the house or playing godzilla or being naughty and trying to get his hands on the kitty food, or worse the kitty litter or then again, taking the small table for a walk through the living room. In the evening, he is, of course, knackered.

so at his ninth monthday, i took a picture of him enjoying his evening ritual, and his pike (who he loves - thank you sweet George for introducing him to the seaworld, hope you're enjoying NY ;))

busy week

this week has been very busy, with may day and all. On wednesday we went with Elke and her daughter Cindy to Brugge, and had a wonderful time. On thursday we went to Koen and his almost four year old son Arne, and we went to a playground and had fun. In the late afternoon, we went to Hans's house- warming-tea-and-cake-late-afternoon party where we met loads of people and even more little kiddies. On friday we met Goedele and Wim and Ilia's best friend-of-his-age Guust and we had a long walk through Gent, had a delicious pancake and bought nice jewelry ;)

But on saturday, that is today, i went with mum and bibi to the park and relaxed all afternoon! I tried to eat the grass and flowers, and they were delicious!!!

Tomorrow i'll see my second cousin Amber again. Am curious if she has changed any since the last time we met...

my battle with the teamug

I was washing the dishes earlier tonight, after having had a wonderful homecooked dinner. As i opened the kitchencloset, a purple milka cowish teamug fell out. Of course my hands were slippery and wet and i tried to catch it, but i failed miserably... Eventually, after what seemed to last an hour, but must have taken a couple of seconds, the teacup broke on my forehead. I can tell you: it hurt like hell! I was getting dizzy and felt something sticky and warm running down my eyebrow and cheek (no, there was no actual tea involved)... Yep, blood was gushing out (a little exaggeration, but that's me eh!) and i almost fainted (no exaggeration here tho). So i went to sit on the floor, took a towel on my way, and tried to stop the wound from bleeding. It wasn't as bad as it seemed, and it's mainly on my eyebrow, so it won't leave a scar (damn!) but it's bruised and will probably be black and blue and a little bloody tomorrow. Oh, and i have a major headache... But most of all, when i was sitting on the floor, realising what had just happened, i just laughed my socks off...

Ilia is five months today. Time flies when you're having a wee one. He's becoming more and more alive, eats veggie and fruit mash now, doesn't drink as much milk anymore. Takes everything into his wee little hands and puts it into his mouth. He's grown, weighs more - 6k340 yesterday, gets the hamstercheeks ;)

His godfather, who has a son of his own, and i were talking just this afternoon, and we're both quite fed up with relationships... Either your heart gets broken, or you break someone elses heart, you're being cheated on, betrayed, eventually lied to and mistrusted... (doesn't sound too good really) but there's a bright side to all this misery, and that it from the moment you have a kid, that doesn't really matter anymore, cause you feel a love that you've never felt before and will never know with anyone except your own flesh and blood... I love Ilia so much, I love the way he smiles at me first thing in the morning, I love the little screams he produces when he's laughing, I love everything about him. First day in daycare, I cried. He didn't, because he doesn't really realise it yet, but i cried, almost the entire way to work (that's more than 50 km). I never cried so much over a boy before...
Even when i'm in a bad mood, or very tired and grumpy, Ilia can always make me smile. That is the unconditional love from a mum to her son. This and nothing else ;)

Tomorrow Ilia will go to daycare for the very first time. It will be a radical change in both our lives, but i guess we will get used to it. Here you see how tiny he is. The astronautsuit was made for 3 months, my precious boy is 4 months now and it's still way too big ;) He's quite tall - 62 cm - but quite light - 5,4 kg. but if he keeps on eating his veggies and potatoes as he is now, he will soon be the biggest kid of the block. ANd he will help me vaccuumclean, as he absolutely adores the machine!

We went with bibi - ilia's fairy godmother- to the ardennes in the beginning of november. he enjoyed it! But then again, he's always cheerful and happy (except when he's hungry or sleepy - he'll cry his lungs out then)
